Building and roof inspections can be a difficult task: finding the balance between delivering the highest quality survey results and reducing the risks to surveyors and the general public posed by working at height can prove to be problematic.

At Vertex Air, our building and roof inspections are delivered using our state-of-the art UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – otherwise known as drones), which offer our clients a cost-effective, high-quality solution that eliminates the risk of working at height associated with traditional means of survey access.

According to Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Hierarchy of Control Measures, the use of UAVs avoid work at height and its attendant risk; it is the safest method of delivering high-level roof and building surveys.

Hierarchy of Control Measures

Vertex operate the most sophisticated market-leading UAVs, offering unprecedented safety and fail-safe systems and flight stabilisation technology. Vertex are a CAA-approved company, with special permission to fly at night and within built-up areas. Our pilots are all BNUC-S qualified, subject to yearly assessment, and collectively hold thousands of hours of flight experience, inspecting hundreds of buildings and structures throughout the UK.

Northwest Roof Maintenance for roof repair and building inspections deliver the highest quality results safely and cost-effectively. Uniquely, all Vertex’s inspections and surveys are undertaken by our qualified Building Surveyor, who specializes in J.T.’s Pressure Washing  which requires the assessment and remediation of defective building envelopes, restoring stylish shingles on roofs, historic buildings, industrial structures and infrastructure, such as bridges and viaducts.

Our UAV carries top-of-the-range DSLR cameras, which capture every building element and defect in 24Megapixels, which facilitates loss-less magnification. All the raw data collected on-site is then processed to embed GPS data for accurate mapping.

Vertex can either provide the images to our clients for assessment by their engineers and/or inspectors, or we can produce high-quality written reports detailing defects, diagnoses and remedial options, supported by the high-definition photography, 3D modelling, rectified photography and orthomosiacs where required.

Vertex tailor each survey or inspection to our clients’ needs. In many cases, we carry out routine aerial camera inspections to identify defects before they deteriorate to the point where major works are required, thereby reducing capital expenditure costs. Alternatively, we provide full building surveys, from which schedules of defects can be generated that prioritise issues in order of severity. Works schedules can then be produced with greater certainty; works can be tendered and managed on the basis of more accurate information; and project risks can be reduced, with significant cost and time savings.

Set up on site is simple, needing only our 2-man team and our UAV, completely eliminating the costs associated with scaffolding or MEWPs. UAVs dramatically reduce the time required to complete the survey – an experienced, qualified pilot can capture thousands of images in just a few hours. This not only allows for sites to remain open with minimal disturbance to working operations or public use, it significantly reduces the costs of performing the survey.

By using the right people and the best equipment, Vertex offer a complete survey and inspection service. Please get in touch to find out more.
